Baruch, Bernard (Mannes)
(19 ago. 1870, Camden, S.C., EE.UU.– 20 jun. 1965, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Financista estadounidense y asesor presidencial. Se graduó en el City College de Nueva York en 1889 e ingresó a trabajar en las oficinas de corredores de Wall Street, donde amasó una fortuna con la especulación. Durante la primera guerra mundial, el pdte. Woodrow Wilson lo nombró la máxima autoridad de la Junta de Industrias Bélicas. En 1919 integró el Consejo económico supremo en la conferencia de paz de París, realizada en Versalles, y fue uno de los asesores de Wilson en cuanto a las condiciones de la paz. Durante la segunda guerra mundial se desempeñó como asesor no oficial del pdte. Franklin D. Roosevelt en materia de reactivación económica. Más adelante ayudó a fijar la política de la ONU relativa al control internacional de la energía atómica.
